Governor Limits

What are Governor Limits in Salesforce?

Governor Limits are various types of limits imposed by Salesforce to ensure that no Apex code improperly consumes system resources. These limits apply to Apex code, SOQL (Salesforce Object Query Language), DML (Data Manipulation Language), and other resources.

Key Governor Limits in Salesforce:
  1. SOQL Queries: Max 100 SOQL queries per transaction in synchronous context.
  2. DML Operations: Max 150 DML statements per transaction.
  3. Execution Time: Max execution time for a transaction is 10 seconds.
  4. CPU Time: Max CPU time that can be taken to execute Apex code is 10 seconds.

Importance of Governor Limits in Salesforce:
Governor Limits ensure that Salesforce's multi-tenant environment remains stable and efficient. These limits encourage developers to write resource-efficient code that does not use unnecessary resources.
