Creating Custom Report Types

How to Create Custom Report Types in Salesforce:

A Custom Report Type allows you to define relationships between objects and specify the fields that are available for reporting, giving you more flexibility than standard report types.

Steps to Create a Custom Report Type:
  1. Navigate to Setup and in the Quick Find box, search for "Report Types."
  2. Click on "New Custom Report Type."
  3. Select the Primary Object for the report. This is the main object your report will be based on.
  4. Give the report type a label, name, and description. Store it in a category and set its deployment status to "Deployed" to make it available.
  5. Define the relationships with other objects. You can link the primary object to other related objects (e.g., Accounts with Contacts).
  6. Save the report type. You can then edit the layout to choose which fields from the related objects will be available in reports created with this type.
