Ethernet

Ethernet in Computer Networks:

Ethernet is a technology used to transmit data in computer networks. It is primarily used in Local Area Networks (LAN) and has several versions. Ethernet is an effective and reliable networking technology that provides high speed and efficiency in data transmission.

History of Ethernet:
Ethernet was developed in the 1970s by Robert Metcalfe and his team. The first Ethernet technology started with a speed of 10 Mbps and was recognized under the IEEE 802.3 standard.

Types of Ethernet:
Various types and standards of Ethernet exist, classified based on their speed and capacity, such as 10BASE-T (10 Mbps), 100BASE-TX (Fast Ethernet), 1000BASE-T (Gigabit Ethernet), and 10GBASE-T (10 Gigabit Ethernet).

Working of Ethernet:
Ethernet divides data into packets. It uses a technology called CSMA/CD (Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection) to manage data transmission and avoid collisions. The physical layer of Ethernet includes cabling, connectors, and signaling technology.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Ethernet:
Advantages: High speed, ease of setup, widespread use, and low cost.
Disadvantages: Distance limitations, traffic congestion, and collision problems.
