How to Create a Company in Tally

Company Creation Screen Details

Let's go through each field on the Company Creation screen:

• Directory: This is the path on your computer where Tally will save your company data. For example, C:\Tally\Data.
• Name: Enter the official name of your company as you want it to appear in Tally.
• Mailing Name: This is usually the same as the company name but can be changed if you use a different name for postal communication.
• Address: Enter the full address of your company.
• Country: Select the country your business operates in from the list.
• State: After selecting the country, choose the appropriate state.
• Pincode: Enter the postal code for your address.
• Contact Details: Fill in your company's Phone Number, Mobile Number, Fax, E-mail, and Website.
• Financial Year Begins From: Enter the start date of the financial year for your company (e.g., 01-04-2023).
• Books beginning from: This is the date from which you want to start maintaining your account books. It is usually the same as the financial year start date.
• Security Control: You can set a Tally Vault password for data encryption or use security controls to create users with different levels of access. This is optional.
• Base Currency Information: These fields are usually pre-filled based on the country selected. You can change details like the currency symbol, formal name, and formatting if needed.

After carefully filling in all the information, double-check it for accuracy. Finally, press Enter repeatedly or press Ctrl+A to accept and save the screen. Your company will be created and will be added to the list of companies.
