Small Industries Classification

  • Agro-based: Oil Mills (Bharatpur, Kota, Pali), Gur/Khandsari (Ganganagar, Bundi).
  • Forest-based:
    • Bidi Industry: Tendu leaves are abundant in Tonk, Jodhpur, etc. Mayur Bidi Factory is located in Tonk.
    • Paper: Sanganer and Gosunda.
    • Matchbox: Ajmer, Pali, Alwar.
  • Mineral-based: Marble (Makrana, Kishangarh), Granite (Jalore), Engineering goods (Jaipur Metals).

Institutional Support

  • SIDBI: Small Industries Development Bank of India established on 2 April 1990 to support SSIs.
  • DICs: 34 District Industries Centers and 7 Sub-centers facilitate industrial development (as per text data).
  • Khadi & Village Industries: Promotes "Fashion for Development". Khadi production was championed by Mahatma Gandhi.
