How to Identify Mobile Numbers?

Nowadays, we often get calls or messages from unknown numbers. In such cases, it becomes important to know whose number it is. Let's understand in detail how to identify a mobile number.

Ways to track a mobile number

  •  Use Truecaller and other Caller ID apps
  •  Truecaller is one of the most popular apps that helps in identifying unknown numbers.
  •  After installing it, when you get a call from an unknown number, its name and location will be displayed.
  •  If the number is already saved under someone's name or has been identified by many people, the app can provide correct information.
 Search the number on Google

  •  Many times, if someone has put their number on a website, business page, social media profile, or any other online platform, you can find information by searching on Google.
  •  Just search for the number in "quotes" (e.g., "9876543210").
 Identify the number through WhatsApp

  •  Save the unknown number on WhatsApp and check the profile picture and name.
  •  Many times people hide their real identity, but you can get some idea from the profile picture and status.
 Search on Facebook and Instagram

  •   Many people link their mobile numbers to Facebook or Instagram.
  •  You can use Facebook's "Find Friends by Phone Number" feature to check if this number is associated with any account.
 Check on Telegram

  •  You can also find information related to an account by entering the mobile number on Telegram.
  •  If the user has a specific username or a profile picture, it can be easier to identify them.
Get help from government and network providers

  •  If there is any fraud happening from the number, file a complaint on the Cyber Crime portal (www.cybercrime.gov.in).
  •  If needed, information can also be requested from the police and the telecom company, but for this, legal procedures must be followed.
Which numbers to be careful of?

  •  Spam Calls - Avoid calls about fake lotteries, loans, and fake prizes.
  •  Fraud OTP Calls - Do not share OTP, bank details, or passwords with anyone.
  •  International Fraud Calls - Sometimes fake calls come from international numbers like +92, +1, +44.
