In Python, Escape Sequences and String Formatting hold a significant place. They both provide us with the facility to work with strings in a better way. Escape sequences are used to represent special characters, while formatting is used to display strings with dynamic data in a better way.

What are Escape Sequences?
In Python, escape sequences are used to represent characters that cannot be directly typed or that are used for special actions. They are written with a backslash (\). Common escape sequences include `\n` (newline), `\t` (tab), and `\'` (single quote).

String Formatting in Python:
String formatting is an important technique that allows us to insert different data into strings or display them in a special way. There are several ways to format strings in Python:
  • Using the % operator: An older style similar to C's `printf`.
  • Using the `str.format()` method: A more modern method that uses placeholders `{}`.
  • f-Strings (Formatted String Literals): Introduced in Python 3.6, this is the easiest and fastest way, allowing direct embedding of variables and expressions in a string.
  • Padding and Alignment: Formatting can also be used to align text to the left (`<`), right (`>`), or center (`^`).

Importance of Escape Sequences and String Formatting:
Escape sequences help in representing characters that cannot be typed directly and are used for file paths, special text formatting, and newline-like actions. String formatting is helpful for combining strings with dynamic data, making programming more flexible.
